COME BUILD THE FUTURE OF THE GAME WITH US
ShotTracker is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help build the technology powering the next generation of sports data and analytics.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who loves solving complex problems, building reliable and scalable systems, and finding smarter ways to develop great software. You’ll work alongside Engineering, Product, and Data Science to turn ideas and requirements into solutions that directly support our products and customers.
You’ll also work in an environment where AI is becoming an integral part of how we build. We’re looking for an engineer who is already comfortable using AI-assisted development tools and is excited to continue exploring how agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and emerging technologies can make software development faster and better, without sacrificing quality.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Build & Deliver: Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software solutions across the ShotTracker platform.
● Design Solutions: Translate product and business requirements into thoughtful technical designs built for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
● Own Quality: Write clean, maintainable code, participate in code reviews, build automated tests, and help maintain high engineering standards.
● Develop with AI: Use tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and other AI-assisted development technologies for coding, refactoring, debugging, testing, and review.
● Explore Agentic Development: Incorporate agentic and autonomous coding workflows to support increasingly sophisticated development tasks and processes.
● Build Integrations: Develop and maintain APIs, WebSocket functionality, real-time frameworks, and integrations across ShotTracker systems.
● Work in the Cloud: Build and support solutions using AWS technologies including DynamoDB, EC2, ALB, ECS, Systems Manager, and related services.
● Power Real-Time Data: Work with technologies including NATS PubSub, Apache Ignite, and Tinybird to support real-time and distributed systems.
● Partner with Data Science: Collaborate on feature pipelines, model serving APIs, data requirements, and the integration of Data Science capabilities into ShotTracker products.
● Solve Problems: Dig into complex technical challenges, identify root causes, and build solutions that improve system performance, stability, and reliability.
● Keep Improving: Help us improve our architecture, development practices, automation, tooling, and the way our engineering team works.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with 4+ years of software engineering experience, or 6+ years of equivalent professional software development experience.
● Strong proficiency in Java development, object-oriented programming, and modern software design principles.
v9.2026
● Experience with Java testing methodologies, automated testing, Groovy, and Spock.
● Experience developing APIs and WebSocket-based solutions using Ruby.
● Proficiency with AWS technologies and cloud-based application development.
● Experience with real-time or distributed technologies such as NATS PubSub and Apache Ignite.
● Experience with Git based version control, Bitbucket, Jira, and Agile development practices.
● Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to independently investigate and resolve complex software and system issues.
● The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with engineers, Data Science, Product, and other cross-functional partners.
HOW YOU’LL WORK WITH AI
AI isn’t an add-on to this role. It’s increasingly part of how our engineering team works.
You should be comfortable using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or comparable tools throughout the development lifecycle. Experience with agentic or autonomous coding workflows and prompt engineering for development use cases is important.
We’re looking for someone who is curious about what these technologies make possible and thoughtful about when and how to use them. Speed matters, but so do quality, security, maintainability, and good engineering judgment.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You’ll operate with a high degree of technical independence while remaining highly collaborative. You’ll contribute to technical decisions, spot potential problems early, and help strengthen engineering practices across the team.
Most importantly, you’ll bring curiosity. Our technology and our development practices are continuing to evolve, and we want someone who is excited to evolve with them.
WHY SHOTTRACKER
At ShotTracker, you’ll have the opportunity to work at the intersection of sports, technology, data, and AI while building products that are used in real-world environments.
We’re a collaborative team where strong ideas can come from anywhere, people have the opportunity to make a visible impact, and engineers are encouraged to challenge how things have always been done.
This position is based at our Overland Park, Kansas headquarters and follows ShotTracker’s hybrid work environment.
