Veteran Video Coordinator Janko Popovic Joins ShotTracker to Help Shape the Future of Basketball Video and Analytics

Former Virginia Women’s basketball VC and international coach to support the development of tech to meet the demands of modern coaching staffs

Overland Park, KS. (May 12, 2026) – ShotTracker, the basketball analytics and video platform trusted across DI, today announced Janko Popovic has joined the company as a Video Operations and Platform Specialist, bringing experience from top college and international programs to support the continued evolution of its video and analytics tools.

Popovic joins ShotTracker directly from the University of Virginia, where he served as video coordinator and assistant coach and contributed to the program’s 2026 NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen run. Across previous roles at Winthrop, Robert Morris, Texas Tech and Marshall, Popovic built a career rooted in the day-to-day demands of the video coordinator role, working closely with coaching staffs to break down film, identify trends and translate insights into on-court adjustments.

“As a video coordinator, you’re seeing more of the game than anyone else, but traditionally a lot of that time has been spent on manual work just to get to the point of analysis,” Popovic said. “That creates a real bottleneck for programs, especially when you consider how much valuable insight from film goes unrealized because of antiquated tools. What ShotTracker has built, and what teams are now demanding, is the ability to remove that friction and unlock those insights. My career has been spent navigating workflows. I know what adds value and what slows a coaching staff down. With ShotTracker, we’re not just giving teams more data, we’re giving them the ability to actually use it.”

In his role at ShotTracker, Popovic will provide a first-hand perspective into how video coordinators and coaching staff are leveraging next-gen technology, helping shape product development and ensuring the platform continues to meet the evolving needs of programs at every level. His experience reflects the growing importance of the video coordinator role as a bridge between data, film and coaching strategy.

“Janko is a rare talent, a master of his craft whose move to ShotTracker validates the caliber of the tools we’re building for programs,” ShotTracker Co-Founder and CEO Davyeon Ross said. “He’s worked inside elite programs and on the international stage, where the ability to turn film into actionable insight isn’t optional, it’s a competitive advantage. He knows where existing workflows fall short and what it takes to make video and data truly usable for a coaching staff. That perspective is critical for us. It allows us to scale a platform that doesn’t just support a program’s workflow, but drives decision-making for the best teams in the country.”

In addition to his college experience, Popovic has contributed on the international stage with the Serbian Women’s National Team. He served as a training camp coach during EuroBasket 2019 and later as an assistant coach and scout for the gold medal-winning team at EuroBasket 2021, as well as during Serbia’s fourth-place finish at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

The hire comes as programs increasingly integrate advanced analytics and video into daily workflows, reinforcing ShotTracker’s focus on building a stack that matches how teams actually operate.
